Apple has issued its first developer betas for the fall operating system lineup, with initial builds of iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26, watchOS 26, tvOS 26, and visionOS 26 available to download.

The keynote is one of the main events of WWDC, with Apple using it to introduce changes to its operating systems and ecosystem, arriving this fall. After the keynote, developers wait for the first betas of those very same operating systems to become available for testing.

Arriving a short time after the keynote, the first developer beta builds for iOS 26, iPadOS 26, watchOS 26, tvOS 26, macOS 26 Tahoe, and visionOS 26 are now available to developers enrolled into Apple’s beta-testing program.

The first iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 developer betas are build 23A5260n, with the first macOS 26 build being number 25A5279m. The initial watchOS 26 build is 23R5280m, the first tvOS 26 build is 23J5279m, and the first visionOS 26 build is 23M5263m.

AppleInsider and Apple strongly advise that users do not install test operating systems or other beta or RC software on “mission-critical” or primary devices. There is always the small chance that problems could develop, resulting in the loss of data.

This is especially true for developer betas, and initial releases in a beta-testing cycle. Testers should use secondary or non-essential hardware, and ensure they have sufficient backups of their critical data at all times.

Due to the risks involved, curious members of the public may want to wait until the first public betas are issued, due to the lower risk of issues.
